3 November 2009: Borrell Associates looks at the outlook of the local online advertising market and expects strong growth in 2010. Even if 2009 was a horrible year for advertising overall, some companies saw double and even triple-digit growth for local operations. Local online advertising saw 12% growth in 2009 overall; Borrell expects further growth in 2010.
16-18 March 2009: MARKETPLACES 2009 (formerly Drilling Down on Local) is the industry’s only conference focused specifically on high-value local verticals, taking place in Los Angeles, California.
10 March 2009: eMarketer, reports on recent announcements from the Kelsey Group and BIA Advisory Services forecasting that in 2013 the digital share of the local advertising market will jump to over 22% from 9% in 2008, and might grow even higher. According to Neal Polachek of Kelsey, “the share shift we expect [between traditional and digital] could actually be more pronounced if the major traditional media are not able to integrate new interactive products into their bundle.” Maybe time for traditional media to embrace Ortelio?
13 February 2009: According to Media Post, reporting on research from Webvisible and Nielsen, only 9% of Small Businesses with a web site are satisfied with their online marketing efforts. This should come as no surprise, given the targeting options that small local businesses have today. However, there is hope: By using Ortelio, small local businesses can advertise only to online customers from their local area.
